FGCC Holiday Walk

FGCC Holiday Walk

Please join your neighbors in enjoying the creativity and holiday spirit at our 7th annual Forest Glen Holiday Walk. The event will be held Sunday, December 17th from 5:00-7:00 pm.

We will have various stations set up around the Glen. You'll recognize the host stations by the firepit and the music playing. You can enjoy a drink, a snack, good conversation and the warmth of a fire. Santa will be stopping by too.

The holidays are also a good time to give back. We will be collecting winter coats and gear (new or gently used) to be donated to a local organization.  For more information please read this Block Club story.

FGCC Halloween Ribbons

IT’S GONNA GET SPOOKY IN THE GLEN!!! 

13 Volunteers (or 13 teams) are needed to distribute Orange FGCC Halloween ribbons anytime Thursday October 26 through Sunday October 29.  No previous experience needed.  The task takes approximately an hour.  You would be handing out ribbons to houses with seasonal Halloween décor on a specific assigned route.

 Route maps, instructions and ribbons will be delivered to you before October 26 for you to pass out, at your convenience, across those 4 days.

Announcing the sixth Forest Glen Garden Walk on Saturday, July 22.  Enjoy exclusive one-day access to the gardens of this naturally verdant Chicago neighborhood tucked between two Cook County Forest Preserves.  Residents cultivate their yards with great pride and creativity, and the Forest Glen Garden Committee maintains three public gardens in the neighborhood.  Rain gardens, koi ponds, impressive hardscapes and unique plant specimens abound in this extremely walkable and charming neighborhood. FGCC Independence Day Parade

Get out your red, white and blue and let’s bring the neighborhood together to celebrate one of our favorite days in Forest Glen! 

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀:
This year’s theme is BORN IN THE USA.  Wear your stars and stripes and wave the American flag high and proud.  𝗪𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝟵:𝟯𝟬 𝗔𝗠 𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝘄𝘆𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲. The parade will end at Paderewski Academy of Music for a flag raising ceremony, parade winners and light refreshments. Kona Ice will be selling shaved ice starting at 10:30. Treats range from $4 - $8.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛'𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠! 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲.

The FGCC Logo Committee is leading the creation of a new logo through community involvement and create an updated graphic representation of Forest Glen Community Club. The logo will represent community input, its pride of place, and expression of its history. The redesigned logo will be used for official Forest Glen Community business and community and be adaptable to multiple formats for promotion of the Club.

We invite all Forest Glen residents to be a part of the process with a creative workshop led by Odile Compagnon (our friend from Good City Group). We have engaged with Columbia College's Graphic Design Practicum to oversee the logo redesign project. Light refreshments will be provided.

Holiday Ribbons

Holiday ribbons are a long standing tradition in Forest Glen. It is a great way to show community spirit by decorating your home for the holidays and a sign of pride for our residents.

13 Volunteers (or 13 teams) are needed to distribute Red FGCC Holiday ribbons anytime Friday December 16 through Sunday December 18.

Older kids are welcome to be on a ‘Team’. No previous experience needed. The task takes approximately an hour.

You would be handing out ribbons to houses with seasonal décor on a specific assigned route. Route maps, instructions and ribbons will be delivered to you before December 16 for you to pass out, at your convenience, across those 3 days. If interested please contact Linda or Bill Chin

FGCC Holiday Walk

The 6th annual Forest Glen Holiday Walk will take place on Sunday, December 11 from 6 to 8 PM. Tables with snacks and drinks will be set up at various locations around the glen. This is a great time to reconnect with your neighbors and enjoy a snack and drink while you listen to music.

We still need a few volunteers so if you can give 30 minutes of your time contact Susan Arnold at susan.scott.arnold@gmail.com. You'll pass out snacks and drinks, as well as keep the fire hot and the music playing.

The holidays are also a good time to give back. We will have a bin at each location to collect hats and gloves (new or gently used) to be donated to the local homeless shelter.
